The Stefan Żeromski Theatre in Kielce has been awarded an honourable mention in the SARP 2025 Award of the Year competition in the category “Architecture of heritage spaces”!Our joint work, led by architects from WXCA, delighted the committee chaired by arch. Marek Chrobak, President of SARP.In the richness of the architecture of this unique building, light plays a significant role. We are extremely proud to have been involved in this exceptional realisation.

Unofficially: not one, but as many as two QLAB Laboratory of Light projects were honoured with the prestigious IES Illumination Award of Merit from the Illuminating Engineering Society, the American association of lighting designers. The individual qualities and value of the lighting in the projects were recognised:- Museum of Polish History in Warsaw- Metropolitan Railway Station in Lublin Submitted projects from all over the world were reviewed and evaluated by a jury made up of a wide range of professionals with different skills and in-depth knowledge of lighting design and applications. The official announcement and presentation of the awards will take place at a gala event on 22 August 2025. We would like to thank the architects - designers of these facilities: WXCA and Tremend, for inviting us to work with them, collaborating at the design stage and consistently enforcing the designed solutions at the construction stage. Without you, there would be no such award, there would be no us!Thank you.

For some time now, we at QLAB Laboratory of Light have been working intensively in close cooperation with Foster+Partners on the detailed lighting design for the investment: Central Communication Port (CPK). The subject is extremely demanding and engages all our strengths, abilities and creativity, but it is at the same time extremely exciting and rewarding work. Last week we had the opportunity to present the results of our work so far at a working workshop at the CPK headquarters.Visualisations taken from the Employer's press materials: www.cpk.pl.

We are very pleased to announce that Tomasz Klimek - Founder and President of QLAB Laboratory of Light - has become a member of Alliance Business Connect. In collaboration with the WXCA architectural studio, we have developed a lighting design for the Stefan Żeromski Theatre in Kielce, covering both the interiors and the illumination of the façade and courtyard. The year's turn is a time when we tend to summarise the past and make plans for the future. 2024 - it was an intense year for us - full of challenges and hard work. Autumn is harvest time - also for lighting awards!We are happy to share another piece of great news! The lighting designed by us for the Musical School in Jastrzębie has been recognised by the jury, which awarded our realisation an Honorable Mention in the international LIT Lighting Design Awards competition.Designed by SLAS Architects, the synthetic and thoroughly contemporary volume with its slightly rounded corners and few but large glazings at ground floor level has a very expressive façade. The corrugated metal cladding acts like a mirror, reflecting the light - both during the day and the city lights at night. The minimalist, white interiors called for an equally minimalist handling of light, and the form of a luminous circle - like a theme in a piece of music - runs through many scenes.The interior of the concert hall contrasts with the rest of the building's spaces. Black and the warm colour of wood dominate here. It is like a black Yin surrounded by a white Yang - symbolising contrast and balance, whether in music, nature or life.

Metropolitan Railway Station in Lublin, designed by Tremend in collaboration with Qlab Laboratory of Light, was awarded First Prize in the Transport category at the World Architecture Festival competition. What's more, the Metropolitan Railway Station was also named ‘Best Public Service Architecture Poland’ at the International Property Awards gala in London These successes are, of course, down to the entire project team, especially the architects, but it is our domain - namely light - that makes it possible for us to enjoy the view of these works of architectural and engineering art, both during the day and after dusk.We engage all our knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to create the highest quality light architecture. We are extremely proud that our work contributes to such extraordinary buildings.  

As many as 3 projects by QLAB Laboratory of Light were among the winners of the TopBuilder 2024 competition of Builder Polska magazine.We are extremely pleased to announce that:- Metropolitan Railway Station in Lublin- Museum of Polish History- Helena Majdaniec Summer Theatre in Szczecin have been honoured with this prestigious award. The aim of the competition is to honour buildings characterised by the high quality of the designed architecture, often timeless form, reliability of execution, requiring extraordinary qualifications and industry specialisation, with the quality of materials used guaranteed by certificates. Built between 1773 and 1774, the Bydgoszcz Canal is the oldest inland waterway on the current territory of Poland, still in operation today. Our QLAB Laboratory of Light office undertook to prepare a concept for the illumination of its parts - locks IV, V and VI, together with their immediate surroundings, but excluding the existing park and street lighting.The aim of the illumination project for the locks is to illuminate them strikingly during the evening hours. The lighting should bring out the unique beauty of these historic buildings from the gloom, highlight their architecture and ensure the safety of people in the vicinity.    Watch the video:  

Three nominations for the European Union Prize for ArchitectureThe projects nominated for the Mies van der Rohe European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture have been announced. Of the 362 nominated projects, only nine are from Poland. And among these nine are three in the design of which our QLAB Laboratory of Light office participated. These are:- Concert Hall in Jastrzębie-Zdrój Project: SLAS Architekci- Modernisation of the National Library in Warsaw Project: Konior Studio and SOKKA- Footbridge in Dobczyce Project: Biuro Projektów Lewicki Łatak.   A description of the nominated Polish projects can be found here>>> The so-called shortlist of nominations will be published in January 2024, the 5 finalists for the EU Mies Award 2024 in February and the official announcement of the winner will take place in April 2024.
